About Us

DroneIntel.eu is a Lisbon-based project created in 2025 to solve a simple problem: Europe’s drone and defense news lives everywhere at once. Important updates broken in dozens of languages, scattered across government releases, niche trade journals, Reddit, investor reports, and local media. Critical context gets lost. Timelines fragment. Professionals in this space struggle to see the full picture.

We built DroneIntel.eu to be the one place where it all comes together without a gazillion ads getting in the way of content.

What we cover

  • Local Players: startups in Europe, manufacturers, innovators, folks working on autonomy and software.
  • Military operations and security: battlefield use, training and exercises, NATO posture, counter-UAS, electronic warfare, air defense integration, procurement, and sanctions impacts
  • Civil and dual-use: emergency response, infrastructure inspection, agriculture, logistics, and public safety
  • Regulation and policy: EASA rules, national frameworks, export controls and new European court decisions affecting the whole industry
  • Market and industry: funding, manufacturing, supply chains, M&A, and notable product launches
  • Events: coverage of EU and national conferences, trade shows and field demos
  • Funding and Hackathons: trackers for European Defence Fund (EDF), Horizon, EU Defence Innovation Scheme (EUDIS), NATO´s DIANA, plus cool hackatons

Who we are

A small, independent team in Portugal with backgrounds in policy, technology, and open-source research. We care about clarity, accuracy, and public understanding more than hot takes.

We see a foggy and fragmented space dominated by US-based news and we want to make something matter for European entrepreneurs and investors.

Our Small Team

Mr. T, Curator-in-Chief
Our always-on, AI-forward curator who scans dozens of sources and hundreds of stories a day across Europe. Mr. T spots signal in the noise, maps themes, tags consistently, and flags what is new or shifting in regulation, funding, defense posture, and industry moves. Then the human takes over, reading deeply, adding context and opinion, and shaping pieces that are useful to our readers. Mr. T does not replace editors, it gives them superpowers.

José Vadio, Journalist and Writer
José covers drones, defense, and geopolitics in Europe. Curious, straight to the point, and allergic to BS. He talks to operators, policymakers, and founders, then cuts the story to what you need to know. Expect clear takeaways, solid sources, and the occasional sharp opinion. He handles interviews, weekly briefs, and longer reads when the story earns it.

Contributors
We invite other writers and subject-matter experts on a project basis to deliver fresh perspectives and deep dives, from field operators and engineers to lawyers and policy analysts. If you would like to contribute, reach out through the contact page.
