Privacy
Last Updated: November 13, 2025
Your privacy is critically important to us. At DroneIntel.eu, we have a few fundamental principles:
- We are thoughtful about the personal information we ask you to provide and the personal information that we collect about you through the operation of our services.
- We store personal information for only as long as we have a reason to keep it.
- We aim for full transparency on how we gather, use, and share your personal information.
Below is our Privacy Policy, which incorporates and clarifies these principles.
Who We Are
DroneIntel.eu ("we," "us," or "our") is an independent publication based in Lisbon, Portugal. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the Data Controller of your personal information.
Information We Collect
We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so — for example, to provide our newsletter, to communicate with you, or to improve our services. We collect this information from three sources: if and when you provide information to us, automatically through operating our services, and from outside sources.
1. Information You Provide to Us
- Basic account information: We ask for basic information from you in order to set up a free or paid account. For example, we require individuals who sign up for the DroneIntel.eu newsletter to provide an email address.
- Payment and contact information: If you become a paid subscriber or contribute via Google Reader Revenue Manager or Stripe, we collect information to process those payments. Note that we do not store your credit card details on our servers; these are handled securely by our payment processors (Stripe and Google).
- Communications with us: When you communicate with us via email or social media, we store a copy of our communications.
2. Information We Collect Automatically
- Log Data: Like most website operators, we collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information.
- Location information: We may determine the approximate location of your device from your IP address. We collect and use this information to, for example, calculate roughly how many people visit our services from certain geographic regions.
How and Why We Use Information
Legal Bases for Collecting and Using Information (GDPR)
A note here for our readers, as we operate under European Union laws. Our use of your information is based on the grounds that:
- Contractual Necessity: The use is necessary to fulfill our commitments to you (e.g., delivering the newsletter you subscribed to).
- Legitimate Interest: The use is necessary for our legitimate interests (e.g., updating our services, security, and understanding our audience) without overriding your rights.
- Consent: You have explicitly given us your consent (e.g., accepting cookies).
Sharing Information
We share information about you in limited circumstances, and with appropriate safeguards on your privacy.
- Third-party vendors: We may share information about you with third-party vendors who need the information in order to provide their services to us. This includes:
- Ghost: Our publishing platform provider.
- Stripe: Our payment processor for direct subscriptions.
- Google (Reader Revenue Manager): Used for contributions and "Subscribe with Google" features.
- Mailgun: Used to deliver our email newsletters.
- Legal and regulatory requirements: We may disclose information about you in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request, provided it meets strict legal standards.
- Aggregated or de-identified information: We may share information that has been aggregated or de-identified, so that it can no longer reasonably be used to identify you.
International Data Transfers
We are based in Portugal. However, some of our third-party service providers (like Ghost, Google, or Stripe) may process data in the United States or other countries.
Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or reliance on the Data Privacy Framework (DPF), to ensure your data remains protected to European standards.
Security
While no online service is 100% secure, we work hard to protect information about you against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction, and take reasonable measures to do so, including using SSL encryption and secure third-party processors.
Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You have the right to ask us to correct any personal data you believe is inaccurate.
- Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can ask us to delete your personal data (e.g., by unsubscribing or contacting us).
- Right to Portability: You have the right to request that we transfer your data to another organization.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at: droneintel.eu@pm.me
